Michigan Science Teachers Association

Client: The Michigan Science Teachers Association, a member organization for science teachers in Michigan.

Purpose: The MSTA website was redesigned in 2002 to establish a presence for the association separate from the MSTA's annual convention. The website was also designed to increase the value of association membership and to engage the members of the MSTA's board of directors in providing specific content.

Orbro assisted the MSTA in transitioning their website from a conference-oriented site to a year-round presence for science education in Michigan. Orbro first met with MSTA representatives to gather requirements, to identify the goals and needs of the MSTA, and to sketch the broad areas of the new site. Orbro then developed, delivered, and refined the website design to produce the current MSTA website.

The new design has several key areas:

• A members-only area for association members that includes full versions of MSTA publications as well as online voting for annual elections.
• A conference sub-site with online registration and a searchable database of sessions and workshops.
• Areas for regional and grade level directors.
• Informational pages for associated organizations and partners.

Orbro has continued to work with the MSTA as their organizational mission and thus the needs served by their website have changed.
